Now the Thule 460 Podium Foot Pack and Thule 460R Rapid Podium Foot Pack can be used on more roof rack applications besides mounting to fixed-points on vehicle roof tops. With the release of the Thule 3101 Fit Kit you can now use the 460 / 460R Podium systems on any permanent mounting Thule Tracks (TB60, TP54, TP42 etc.) as well as a large number of factory rack tracks found on certain vehicles. The picture above demonstrates how easy it is to install a Fleetwood camper trailer roof rack system. The 2008 Fleetwood popup camper bike roof rack setup is using the Yakima Control Towers system mounted to the Fleetwood camper roof tracks (if your popup camper does not already have tracks installed, simply mount the Yakima Tracks to the roof top and you can then connect the Yakima Control Tower roof rack system to the Yakima Tracks). The Control Tower system includes a set of four Yakima LP1 landing Pads, that attach the roof tracks, and also a pair of extra long Yakima 86 inch cross bars, which are the required length for the Fleetwood camper roof top (and all makes and models of popup camper trailers). Four Yakima HighRoller bike racks are then connected to the pair of 86 inch crossbars for transporting bikes for the entire family.

Yakima 8880159 End Caps are now available for use with the extra-long Yakima Racks 86 inch length round cross bars.

Folks purchasing the extra-long Yakima 86″ cross Bars (mainly for use on pop up camper roof racks etc) are discovering that the normal Yakima End Caps for cross bars will not work on these thicker and beefier 86 inch length round bars. Instead, Yakima Racks now has available the Yakima 8880159 End Caps, made specifically for use with the 86″ length crossbars. They will not owrk on the shorter length Yakima round bars. For those you will need the regular Yakima 8007026 End Caps. It is a very good idea to use end caps, as they extend the life of the crossbars by working to prevent rust from forming on the bars. They also provide a nice and clean finished appearance for your roof rack system.

Yakima Racks is now offering an  extra long pair of round bars as an option for use on specific applications such as installing a rack system on a Coleman Fleetwood pop up camper or towable kayak and canoe trailers etc. The 8000420 Yakima 86″ cross bars are the crossbars component to choose when configuring a camper roof rack system. In fact, many pop up Colemen Fleetwood campers include tracks on the top of the camper.  This makes it a quick and easy process to install a Yakima multi-purpose base rack system that includes these extra long 86 inch crossbars. Most configurations on camper tops will be the Yakima Control Tower roof rack system  (simply choose the Yakima LP1 Landing Pads and 86 inch crossbars options). Then you attach each Yakima Landing Pad to the tracks on the camper roof top, and then connect each Control Tower to a Landing Pad. The 86 inch crossbars connect to the Towers. And if your camper has no tracks on top already, simply first install the Yakima 60 inch Tracks onto the camper top. And then use the same components listed above to connect to the Yakima Tracks.
