Q: I’m wondering does anyone (either Thule or Yakima or whoever) sell a carrier that supports surfboard/kayak/bike all-in-one? I’m going to be buying a new SUV soon and wanted to find out this info first and would rather just get it all-in-one. If not, what’s the best product for just surfboard/kayak?
A: The INA-444 is a great carrier for kayaks, stand-up paddleboards or surfboards. It works very well with plastic recreational boats, but probably isn’t the best choice for Kevlar or fiberglass touring kayaks.
And with a base rack system by Thule, Yakima or Inno, you could simultaneously use both the surf/kayak carrier and any of a number of bike carriers offered on our site. With wide enough crossbars, it will likely be possible to carry two bikes alongside your watersports carrier.

Q: I just got a rockymount board rack for my car but i need the roof bars for my 2 door car. i drive a 99 ford escort zx2 and cant find roof bars for a 2 door car just 4 door any way you can help me out?
A: The only base rack fit for that car I can find is the Inno IN-SU with the K526 fit hooks and B117 bars. Because your car is a 2-door, you also need the short roof adapter, which helps compensate for the limited bar spread on most 2-door sedans.

Q: I have a 2000 Audi TT. I need a cheap but sturdy rack for a long surfboard (11 foot). I would prefer a surfboard package but I do not have a base rack system on the TT right now. What should I do?
A: First of all to carry a long surfboard you will need to get a base rack system for your TT. I would recommend Thule’s 480 Traverse system. Then you would need a way to secure it to the roof rack. I would recommend Inno’s INA744 boardlocker which fits perfectly onto Thule’s base rack and gives you the capability to lock your surfboard.

Q: I have a 2006 Honda Accord 4 door sedan – what are the options for a surfboard rack that will work with my car?
A: Here is some information on carrying surf boards on a 2006 Honda Accord 4 door sedan.
Base rack options:
Thule 480 Traverse Roof Rack System, this rack system includes the 480 foot pack, 1304 fit kit and 58” cross bars. This would be my first choice for the base rack. I have used them for years and always had good luck.
Yakima Q Towers Roof Rack System, this rack system includes the Q Tower foot packs, Q Clips (Q6 front, Q83 rear) and 48” cross bars. Yakima is the other major brand besides Thule. They are also a quality brand. They use round bars where Thule uses square bars.
Inno IN-SU Roof Rack System, this rack system includes the IN-SU foot packs, K294 fit clips and 50” cross bars. Inno is the most popular rack system in Asia and has been making inroads in the US market over the past years. Their fit & finish is slightly less dialed than Thule or Yakima. They use the exact same shape and size bars as Thule.
Surf Carriers(all require one of the above base racks and all will fit any of the above racks no matter the brand):
Thule 809 Double-Decker Surf Rack, Lockable holds up to two boards.
Yakima WaveHog SUP / Surf Rack, Lockable, holds up to three boards.
Inno INA744 BoardLocker Board Rack, Lockable, holds up to two boards.
As you can see there are lots of great choices for a 2006 Honda Accord surfboard rack – hope this helps!

Picture of the all-new Inno Racks BRA130 Flex Top Aero roof bag, an all-purpose car roof rack cross bars mounting cargo luggage storage bag.
Just released to Inno Racks dealers across North America is the unique and innovative BRA130 Inno Flex Top Aero roof bag, a fully-featured multi-purpose cargo luggage carrier bag for transporting a wide variety of gear and equipment including luggage, sports gear (even holds up to 4 snowboards), golf clubs, baby strollers and baby joggers, camping equipment and much more. And with a 14 cu/ft cargo carrying capacity there is plenty of room for hauling gear for the whole family. The 65 inch length is also the perfect size to fit any vehicle, from small 2 door cars on up to SUV’s. The universal mounting Inno Racks Quick Mount hardware fits any factory rack crossbars and any aftermarket multi-purpose base roof rack cross bars from Inno, Thule, Whispbar, Yakima and others. Plus, the base of the Inno BRA130 Flex Top Aero roof bag has built-in tracks to allow the mounting clamps to variably position forward and backward for finding the ideal position on the vehicle roof top (especially nice for cars that have a rear hatch door and ensuring it won’t contact the back of the roof bag when the hatch door is opened up). What really makes the BRA 130 Inno Flex Top Aero roof bag stand apart from all other car rooftop cargo luggage bags is the integrated folding frame system that supports the structure of the bag. This serves to keep the bag aerodynamic and fuel friendly on the vehicle and looking good at all times, as well as making it easy to access the contents transported in the bag. Plus, the full zippers on both sides of the bag provide convenient dual access from either side of the vehicle. When the Inno Flex Top Aero is not needed, the frame can fully collapse flat, eliminating the need to remove the bag and also ensure optimal fuel efficiency and aerodynamics. Locks are also included for locking the zippers and protecting all items from theft when left unattended.

Picture of the INA388 Inno Tire Hold bike rack, featuring an industry first dual ratcheting arms to stabilize both the front and rear bike wheels.
Up until now, roof mount upright bicycle carriers have advanced forward with front wheel ratcheting arm technology. However, with the recent release of the Inno INA388 Tire Hold bike rack the bar has been raised, as this innovative model features dual ratcheting arms that completely secure and stabilize both the front AND rear wheels. Industry reviews are labelling it the most stable bike rack in the industry for transporting all kinds of bicycles on a vehicle rooftop. By simply opening up both arms from their lowered and stored positions on the bike tray, the bike can be loaded onto the bike tray (no hands needed for holding the bike in place either because of the unique Inno Racks ‘Self-Standing Auto System’ that holds the bike in place for you). Then just ratchet tighten each arm onto the bike wheels. For complete security, a cable lock and lock lever mechanism is included for anti-theft protection. And the universal mounting clamps allow the INA 388 Inno Tire Hold bike rack to attach to factory roofrack crossbars and any aftermarket roof rack cross bars from Inno, Whispbar, Yakima, Thule and more. Compatible with wheel sizes from 20 inches up to 29 inch wheels (ideal for the full range of bicycles – from bmx and kid bikes on up to road bikes and all styles of mountain bikes including 29ers.) Any tire width up to 2.7″ is compatible. Suitable for disc wheels and carbon fiber rims as well.

Once bike is loaded onto the inno Racks INA387 Slim Fork bike rack, simply close the cover and use the included key to lock the lock core (also included), which simultaneously secures the bicycle the carrier and the entire Slim Fork itself to the vehicle. Picture of the Inno Racks INH303 Aero Light 3 bike hitch rack. Fits both 2" and 1-1/4" trailer hitches. Also include hitch bike rack locks to secure bicycles to the carrier and the Aero Light rack to the trailer hitch receiver.
Inno Racks has just released a 3 bike hitch rack version of the Inno INH301 Aero Light 4 bike hitch rack and Inno INH302 Aero Light 2 bike hitch rack. Called the INH303 Inno Aero Light hitch bike rack, it offers all the exact same features and ease of use as the INH 301 and INH 302 models. Built with highest-quality, super strong and lightweight aluminum materials, the INH303 Aero Light is a cinch to lift, carry and mount to the trailer hitch receiver. The included universal trailer hitch adapter also enables the rack to connect to both 1.25 inch and 2 inch trailer hitches. Also includes a hitch pin lock to lock the Aero Light to the trailer hitch receiver, and the included cable bike lock ensures all bicycles are locked to the carrier. Bikes are prevented from swinging around during transport via the no-sway cages that are integrated into the bike cradles. Holds all styles, shapes and sizes of bikes. Best of all, all these features and many more are included at a manufacturer’s special promotional discount price. The INH303 Inno Aero Light hitch bike rack is available at Inno Racks dealers in the United States and Canada.

Picture of the all-new INA446 Inno SUP / Kayak / Canoe Locker for use as a stand-up paddleboard rack, kayak rack, canoe rack and more. Universally fits factory roof rack crossbars as well as base rack systems from Inno, Yakima, Whispbar, Thule and more.
Image of the INA445 Inno SUP / Kayak / Canoe Locker - an economical version of the INA446 and does not include the car rack cross bar pads.
Now available from Inno Racks dealers in the United States and Canada are the new, improved versions of the famously popular Inno INA444 SUP / Kayak / Canoe Locker – the Inno Racks INA446 SUP / Kayak / Canoe Locker and the Inno INA445 SUP / Kayak / Canoe Locker – both feature innovative updates that allow for even more factory roof rack cross bar fits, more robust theft prevention and better protection and stability of equipment during transport. Instead of a pair of foam blocks (included with the INA444), the INA446 version now includes a pair of crossbar pads that deliver superior ease of loading and unloading and wear-restistance that’ll last a lifetime. The INA445 version does not include rack pads and is targeted as a more value priced option for users that do not need rack pads for added equipment protection, ease of loading / unloading or increased prevention of lateral shifting of gear during transport (also a great option for users that already own a pair of car rack cross bar pads or foam blocks). Both models feature redesigned locking rack straps that deliver increased protection from theft of gear or the rack itself when left unattended. They also feature universal clamp hardware that fits even more factory racks as well as any after-market base rack system crossbars from Inno Racks, Yakima Racks, Whispbar Racks, Thule Racks and more. The Inno INA446 Locker and Inno INA445 Locker are the most versatile watersport carriers available on the market today and work equally well for hauling any canoe, kayak, stand-up paddleboard ( SUP ), surfboard (both short and long boards), windsurfer, wakeboard etc. Works great as a ladder rack as well. The integrated ratcheting mechanism makes it an effortless process to tighten the straps around the gear, and the included Inno locks and keys ensure everything is safe and secure from anyone stealing your gear or the rack itself. They both also adjust to any width along the cross bars to custom fit the item(s) you are carrying.

Q: I Need your recommendation of which specific INNO parts I need for my 2002 Honda Civic 4 doors (naked roof). I need a roof rack system for my 12 foot surfboard and I’m interested in INNO racks.
A: Inno recommends their IN-SU Complete System (using fit hook K190 and a minimum of the B117 bars) for your ’02 4-door Civic. As for surfboard racks for this system, we recommend the Inno INA745 or INA744.

Picture of the all-new Inno Racks IN-AR roof rack crossbars system for vehicles with factory side rails. An inexpensive, cheap car rack option for virtually any car, van, SUV, pickup truck and minivan with siderails only and needs the cross bars for connecting gear carriers to transport equipment.
Photo of the Inno IN-AR Stays, packaged as a set of four INAR Stays (also known as Towers) and ideal for any Inno Racks car rack owners that already have crossbars and need to transfer their current Inno roof rack system over to a vehicle with raised factory side rails.

Picture of the Inno Shadow 16 roof box (dimensions - 78.7”L x 31.9”W x 13.4”H), 16 cu/ft storage capacity that fits all styles of roof racks including factory racks and any roof rack crossbars from Inno, Yakima, Whispbar, Thule etc.
Photo of the Inno Shadow 14 cargo box (dimensions - 70.9”L x 31.9”W x 13.4”H), 14 cu/ft storage capacity and has all the same upscale features as the Shadow 16 box but is shorter to fit all styles of cars and allow most rear hatch doors to open all the way.
The all-new Inno Racks Shadow series of car roof mount waterproof cargo luggage carriers stand out from the competition due to a combination of unique design engineering and premium good looks. The two most popular models are the 16 cu/ft cargo storage capacity Inno BRA1250 Shadow 16 cargo box and the 14 cu/ft cargo carrying Inno BRA1450 Shadow 14 roof box. Both are identical except for the length, the Shadow 14 model being a little shorter for working universally well on all sizes of cars and also increasing the chances that the rear hatch door will be able to open fully without touching the rear of the cargo box. The sleek low profile of the boxes (both have a 13.4″ height) means the Inno BRA1250 Shadow 16 and Inno BRA1450 Shadow 14 gear boxes cut through the wind like a knife and reduce wind drag so fuel efficiency is not compromised and the boxes wont produce noise while on top either. The low-profile aerodynamic shape also means you are much more likely to be able to pull into a garage without having to remove the box from the cartop. The Inno Racks Memory Mount clamping system allows the roof boxes to universally fit to factory rack crossbars and also any car rack cross bars from Inno, Whispbar, Yakima, Thule etc. Each model is also available in choice of black or silver color. Locks are included.

Photo of the Inno Racks BRA1150 Shadow 15 cargo box, sporting an ultra-low profile for increased fuel efficiency, less wind drag and a quiet ride. This waterproof cargo carrier fits all styles of roof rack crossbars.
The Inno Racks Shadow series of cargo boxes has recently been released to dealers across North America. The Inno BRA1150 Shadow 15 roof box is a marquee performer in the line-up, featuring the lowest profile of all the Inno Shadow roof boxes. With just an 11.8″ height, the Inno Shadow 15 luggage box performs brilliantly not just in working as a waterproof cargo luggage box, but it dramatically reduces fuel consumption compared to most other cargo roof boxes. Also, due to the decreased wind drag and improved aerodynamics there is much less wind drag which translates into a very quiet box (any passenger will appreciate on a long trip). The Inno Racks proprietary Memory Mount system makes it easy to position and adjust the BRA1150 Shadow 15 the first time, then there is no need to readjust every time you take the box off and put it back on again ‘set it and forget it’. The Memory Mount clamps are also universally compatible with virtually all factory racks plus any aftermarket roof rack crossbars from Inno, Thule Whispbar, Yakima etc. Other features include dual-side opening access, locks and keys included, premium U.V. and scratch resistant glossy black finish, lash down straps on the inside. 15 cubic foot cargo storage capacity. Fits skis, snowboards, surfboards, tools, camping equipment, luggage cargo gear, fishing rods, golf clubs and much more.

Q: I have a 2008 Honda Civic Coupe and wish to carry a kayak on the roof. I know I can use the Inno IN-SU Rack system for the base rack - I understand this consists of the Cross bars and attachments to the car. What rack would I attach to this to carry my kayaks?
A: You are correct: the Inno INSU Complete System will work on your Civic Coupe. However, in addition to this rack you also need the IN-JK Short Roof Kit. Also worth noting, the maximum weight limit on your vehicle is 80 lbs.
Onto this system you could then attach a kayak carrier. Some of the best options are the Inno INA444, the Thule 835Pro, or the Thule 883 Glide and Set.

Q:I have a 31″ wide stand up paddle board (like a surf board) and was told that I’d need to use the INA444 system. I have some questions regarding the rack and the foam blocks.
- Are they needed for a stand up paddle board?
- Are they supposed to be left in place even when not carrying
anything on the rack?
- Is this system safe for drive through car washes?
A: The Inno INA444 is definitely the rack to get for SUP boards, and the foam pads are not required and we don’t recommend leaving them on for transit without a board on them. They can come off in wind if not strapped down tightly. As for the car wash, self serve wand style are okay but don’t use the automatic roller/brush ones as they can rip off racks!
Q: If I were to use this with a 31″ wide SUP, would I need to also purchase board pads if I didn’t want to use the foam block it comes with?
A: It will be good idea to have some type of padding on the crossbar, not only for cushion but to provide some friction to prevent slipping of the board while in transit. So while not required, we do recommend use of such pads.
Q: I noticed that the new INA745 doesnt even require tools to attach to the vehicle. Is the INA444 the same way or does it still require hexwrenches to install? I’m going back and forth between INA444 and the integrated locking surf carrier from Steelcore because it seems easier to move between vehicles which I will need to do frequently. My board is 31″ wide by 4″ thick and sometimes we like to carry 2.
A: Good point regarding the ease of removal/attachment, the INA444 does require wrenches but remember it locks whereas the INA745 does not. The locking ability and the fact that you can adjust it to anywhere on the bar seems to make the INA444 the product of choice now.
Last I knew the INA745 would not be available for quite some time. As for the Steelcore, it is more rudimentary and while may work a bit easier from car to car, we’ve had some problems with the ability to tighten the strap due to the intergrated steel cable.
Our recommendation is the INA444.

Q: I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Will the Yakima Q Towers Roof Rack System work for this vehicle? I would carry one or two kayaks.
A: No, the Yakima Q Towers Roof Rack System will NOT work for this vehicle. You could go with the Yakima Control Tower System but this would involve drilling into the roof of your vehicle.
Thule’s option for a 2001 Mitusubishi Eclipse would be the 400XT Complete – this would also require purchase of the Thule 477 adapter kit BUT this would only allow you to carry bikes, skis and snowboards on your roof NO KAYAKS.
THERE IS A SOLUTION! If you purchase Inno’s IN-SU Complete Roof Rack system and the Inno IN-JK short roof adapter kit which will increase the distance between the front and rear cross bars you will be able to carry long items such as kayaks using kayak carriers from Inno, Yakima or Thule.
