This 2010 Toyota Tacoma truck cap cargo rack and bike rack system is using the Yakima 1A Raingutter rack system and a Yakima SkyBox Pro 12 cargo/luggage box and a Rocky Mounts Pitchfork bike rack.

Even with a truck, you can always use more gear storage space. In the case of the owner of this nicely racked up Tacoma, he is moving to Montana and ran out of room, so he just simply needs more space. Now thanks to a cargo box, he doesn’t have to leave anything behind with a “Free” sign on it. This 2010 Toyota Tacoma truck cargo rack and bike rack is using the Yakima 1A Raingutter Complete roof system to work with the raingutters on his Leer cap. Attached to the crossbars is a Yakima SkyBox Pro 12 roof cargo box and a RockyMounts Pitchfork bike rack. He even has room left over on his crossbars for a rooftop kayak carrier.

I too drive a Subaru.  But mine is slightly different than this 2005 Subaru Outback bike rack set up using two Rocky Mounts Tie Rod bike racks which mount directly to the Subaru Outback factory racks.  Locks are sold seperately, and each Tie Rod bike rack uses two Rocky Mount lock cores to secure both the bike to the bike rack and the bike rack to the roof rack.  A Rocky Mounts 4 pack of locks will lock everthing securely with the same key.

If you have factory bars on your vehicle, all you need are bike racks that will fit directly to them.  This Subaru Legacy bike rack set up is using the Subaru Legacy factory bars to support two Rocky Mount Tie Rod bike racks.  A four pack of Rocky Mounts locks takes care of the security business–that’s two locks for each tray: one to lock the tray to the crossbar and one to lock the fork skewer.

2006 Volkswagen Touareg Ski/Snowboard and Bike Roof Rack

2006 VW Touareg car car system for skis, snowboards, and bikes using the Thule 430 Tracker II base rack system with Thule TK1 Tracker Kit with the Thule 91725 Flattop 6 ski/snowboard carrier and two Rocky Mount Pitchfork bike racks.

Different seasons, different racks.  Same car.  Here is a 2006 VW Touareg bike rack for summer and the same car racked up as a VW Touareg ski and snowboard rack for the winter.  In both modes, one thing stays constant, and that is the Thule 430 Tracker II base rack system, which uses the Thule TK1 to attach to the VW Touareg roof tracks.  During ski and ride season, the Thule 91725 Flatttop 6 ski & snowboard rack hauls skis and boards to the mountain and during bike season, two Rocky Mount PitchFork bike racks carry the bikes to the trail.  I wouldn’t be surprised if a kayak or canoe rack made an occasional appearance as well.

Improving on the popular universal mounting, factory rack compatible RockyMounts Noose bike rack, the RockyMounts Bike Rack Company has recently released the super stylish, sexy and easier-than-ever to use RockyMounts TieRod bike rack for mounting to factory racks. The picture above shows two TieRods mounted to the Mazda Protege 5 factory rack crossbars. A car roof rack mount gear basket is a superb option that offers versatile solutions for carrying many items besides camping equipment and cargo-luggage gear. The picture above shows a 2003 Toyota 4Runner roof basket with two bike racks attached to the gear basket. The Yakima MegaWarrior roof basket is mounted directly to the 2003 Toyota 4Runner factory rack cross bars. The neat thing about the MegaWarrior is that the basket, itself, has a pair of integrated cross bars also. This allows for the attachment of all kinds of gear carriers right to the basket. In this case 2 RockyMounts PitchFork bike racks are mounted to the MegaWarrior basket crossbars. You can still place all your cargo-luggage gear, camping equipment in the basket while the bike carriers and bicycles are installed and loaded on.

2007 Toyota Prius Roof Rack and Bike Racks

RockyMounts bike racks are an excellent, lower cost alternative for those interested in a fork mount style bicycle carrier (the front wheel is removed and the bike fork attaches to the bike rack quick release skewer). The photo above shows a 2007 Toyota Prius bike roof rack that uses two RockyMounts Pitchfork bike rack carriers attached to the Yakima Q Towers car rack multi-purpose base rack system (Q Towers mount to the Toyota Prius car top using a pair of Yakima Q124 clips and a pair of Yakima Q5 clips; two Yakima 58 inch cross bars are also used; these components are all included with the Yakima Q Tower complete roof rack system). Also a large size 44 inch Yakima rack fairing is connected to the front base rack crossbar.

A great example of how you can easily carry your tandem bike rack on a sports car stylishly! This is the boss’s wife’s ride, making the most out of the carrying capacity of the Toyota Highlander’s factory roof racks.  On the left is a SportRack ABR511 J-style kayak carrier, in the center is a Rocky Mounts Noose SL bike rack, and on the right is a Thule 835 Hullaport Pro J-style folding kayak cradle.  All of these items mount directly to factory roof racks right out of the box.

 Here is a good example of how a roof rack system can add some serious style points to an already stylish car.  This 2008 VW GTI had nothing on the rooftop before we installed the Thule 400XT roof rack system and then slapped on a couple low profile, red Rocky Mounts Pitchforks.  The customer was a bit hesitant to change the look of his ride, but when he took one look at the finished product he was very satisfied.

Here is a nice shot of a Yakima Control Tower System using Yakima Landing Pad 11 mounted directly to the Mazda 3 factory mounting points for a clean, custom look.  If you take a close look, you’ll also notice the system is using a Yakima Wind Jammer to quiet the wind noise.  Mounted to the 48″ Yakima Roundbars, we have a Rocky Mounts Lariat SLX bike rack which is transporting a very sweet Salsa El Mariachi 29er.
