Great sun-soaked photo of a 2009 Honda Civic bike roof rack system with the Yakima Q-Tower car rack system (includes Yakima Q-Towers, Yakima Q99 clips and Yakima Q131 clips, and Yakima 58" crossbars) finished off with the Yakima 50" Fairing and the Yakima High Roller bike rack.
Here’s a mighty swell photograph of a 2009 Honda Civic roof rack bike carrier system decked out with the Yakima Q-Towers car rack multi-purpose base system (includes Yakima Q-Towers, Yakima Q99 clips and Yakima Q131 clips, and Yakima 58″ crossbars). Mounted upon the base rack cross bars is the Yakima High Roller upright mount bike carrier working hard to carry a BMX bike with 20″ wheels. One of the great things about the Yakima High Roller bike rack is its ability to carry any bike, regardless of wheel size, frame configuration, brake set up, and tire width. Heck, if your bike has two wheels, the High Roller will carry it. Rounding out this Yakima roof top bike rack set up is the Yakima 50″ wind fairing to quiet that confounded wind noise and a set of Yakma SKS 6 pack of locks to keep any pilferin’ hoodlums at bay.

A great photo of a 2010 Subaru Outback roof rack basket bike rack setup using the Yakima MegaWarrior basket mounted to the Subaru Outback wagon factory crossbars and the Yakima Boa short tray bike rack attached to the integrated crossbars located on the Yakima MegaWarrior basket.
For some 2010 Subaru Outback wagon owners, deciding which solution to choose for transporting their gear can be somewhat troublesome. Much of this was previously due to the lack of information available for selecting a 2010 Subaru Outback wagon roof rack system that is right for your needs. We recommend visiting this 2010 Subaru Outback factory roof rack article for complete details on what is available.
As indicated in the picture above, a very popular option is to mount a cargo baasket to the 2010 Subaru Outback wagon factory rack crossbars. The Yakima MegaWarrior basket is featured on this Subaru Outback wagon. This basket also includes a pair of integrated Yakima cross bars, allowing for the mounting of any gear carriers right on the MegaWarrior basket cross bars. This offers a very versatile cargo carrying solution. Simultaneously stow all your cargo luggage and camping gear in the basket while transporting skis & snowboards, bikes, kayaks, canoe, surfboards and more right on the basket. In the picture above, the Yakima Boa short tray bike rack is mounted directly to the Yakima megaWarrior crossbars.

A fine shot of a 2001 Audi TT roof bike rack system with the Inno INA 383 Fork Lock II Bike Rack mounted directly to Audi TT factory roof racks.
This 2001 Audi TT came with the Audi OEM roof racks which have aerodynamic, oval shaped crossbars. Not all attachments can mount directly to these bars due to their shape, but the Inno INA 383 Fork Lock II bike rack definitely can. It comes with universal mounting hardware so it can not only mount directly to these bars without adapters, but also virtually any factory crossbars, as well as, of course, Inno, Thule, and Yakima crossbars. The Inno INA383 bike tray also comes with locks and keys, so it is truly ready to go right out of the box.

RockyMounts TieRod bike rack
ORS Racks Direct takes a good look at the all-new RockyMounts TieRod factory rack mounting bike rack. With many new features and sleek, aerodynamic design styling, the Rocky Mounts TieRod greatly improves on the very successful RockyMounts Noose SL (now discontinued) factory rack bike rack. The redesigned fork block head is very low-profile and quickly mounts to any factory rack crossbars (Also works on Yakima round cross bars and square cross bars from Thule, Inno etc., but the RockyMounts PitchFork bike rack is instead recommended for these aftermarket car rack crossbars.) Also includes the innovative and easy to use locking quick release skewer from RockyMounts. Dual locking options to lock the TieRod to the roof rack and the bicycle to the carrier. Disc brake compatible, no adapters needed. Fits both skinny road tires and super-fat mountain bike tires. Many color options to choose from, from black to white and a rainbow of colors in between.

This photo spotlights a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX roof rack kayak bike carrier system using the Yakima Q Towers car rack, Yakima King Cobra bike racks and Yakima Hullraiser kayak carrier.
This roof rack set up for carrying kayaks and bicycles on a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX is a great example of how kayak racks and bike racks can live in harmony in close quarters and over rough terrain. Layering begins with Yakima Q Towers complete roof rack system. In this case Q78 Clips (also known as Yakima Q Clips 78) are called for. 48 inch crossbars have been selected to meet the width requirements of the 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX roof top. The owner of this Subaru Impreza WRX needs both Kayak Rack and Bike Rack attachments (since it might be difficult to decide which sport they want to do once they all wheel drive it into the great outdoors). Our 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX owner knows kayaks of almost any size or shape can be easily transported with the Yakima HullRaiser Kayak Rack. Two bikes are better than one - so the Yakima King Cobra upright mount bike rack is used twice in this setup-again this roof top bike rack attachment can hold a bike of any shape or size so it is a good universal solution for just about any vehicle. The final a la mode topping on this recipe for fun is a 6 pack of Yakima SKS lock cores and keys (because it is no fun to have your roof rack system stolen). 4 locks are used on the roof rack system and 1 each for the Yakima King Cobra bike racks.
Got that? Not sure? Check out the complete installation details for this stellar kayak rack, bike rack, roof rack system for the 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX.

The picture above demonstrates how easy it is to install a Fleetwood camper trailer roof rack system. The 2008 Fleetwood popup camper bike roof rack setup is using the Yakima Control Towers system mounted to the Fleetwood camper roof tracks (if your popup camper does not already have tracks installed, simply mount the Yakima Tracks to the roof top and you can then connect the Yakima Control Tower roof rack system to the Yakima Tracks). The Control Tower system includes a set of four Yakima LP1 landing Pads, that attach the roof tracks, and also a pair of extra long Yakima 86 inch cross bars, which are the required length for the Fleetwood camper roof top (and all makes and models of popup camper trailers). Four Yakima HighRoller bike racks are then connected to the pair of 86 inch crossbars for transporting bikes for the entire family.

For a look that moves well beyond the humdrum same old run of the mill roof rack with square cross bars, check out this customer installation photo that features a 2008 Toyota Corolla kayak-bike roof rack system with modern, aerodynamic design styling. It is configured with the Thule 480R Rapid Traverse car rack system, which attaches to the 2008 Toyota Corolla S rooftop using the set of included Thule 1515 Traverse Fit Kit clips (a pair of Thule Racks Rapid Aero load bars and 480R Rapid Traverse Foot Pack are also included). And for the perfect best-in-class kayak carrier and bike carrier to mount onto the load bars, the Thule 518 Echelon fork mount bike rack and Thule 835PRO Hull-a-Port folding j-cradle kayak rack are used. Nissan X-Terra bike rack set up using Thule's 594XT Sidearm mounted to factory crossbars and Thule's 916XT T2 hitch mounted bike rack for receiver hitch.
Here is a great shot of a Nissan X-Terra racked up to carry four bikes. Mounted directly to the factory crossbars, which due to their size and shape isn’t an application you’ll find in Thule’s Fit Guide, but is nontheless possible with a trip to the hardware store, are two Thule 594XT Sidearm upright bike carriers. Mounted into the trailer hitch is the Thule 916XT T2 bike rack. Both of these carriers use a ratcheting hook to support the bikes by the front wheel rather than the frame, so regardless of frame dimensions or wheel size, as long as your bike has two wheels, these carriers will work.

A beautiful example of the Inno Racks IN-FR car rack and Inno INA382 bike rack used as a 2010 Subaru Forester roof rack bike rack setup.
Becoming more and more common out on the roads and highways of America are Inno Racks vehicle rack systems. With a long established reputation as the the car rack market leader in Japan and many parts of the world, Inno Racks is becoming a favored alternative to the major players in the USA such as Thule Racks and Yakima Racks. Several reasons include very competitive and often lower prices on roof rack and gear carrier options, locks included (other car rack makers charge extra for locks) and extremely well-made and premium design styling features. The photo above showcases a 2010 Subaru Forester car roof rack bicycle carrier system that is configured with the Inno IN-FR roof rack mounted to the Subaru Forester factory side rails, while the Inno INA382 Upright Lock bike rack is attached to the IN-FR base rack cross bars.

A car roof rack mount gear basket is a superb option that offers versatile solutions for carrying many items besides camping equipment and cargo-luggage gear. The picture above shows a 2003 Toyota 4Runner roof basket with two bike racks attached to the gear basket. The Yakima MegaWarrior roof basket is mounted directly to the 2003 Toyota 4Runner factory rack cross bars. Standing beside this awesome Honda Pilot roof rack setup for carrying skis and a bike are Mr. Reeder, Yakima Racks Sales Rep, and Shawn, ORS Racks Direct Operations Manager.
Lucky us for a recent visit from Mr. Reeder, Yakima Racks Sales Rep. A great day was had by all at ORS Racks Direct, as we spent the day discussing all things concerning Yakima Racks… exciting new products are now available for 2010, including the Yakima FrontLoader bike rack, Yakima SpareTime spare tire mount bike rack, Yakima EvenKeel kayak rack etc. Of course, before Steve had a chance to jump back in his car and head back home, we were able to capture yet another poor quality image (due to using a Blackberry camera and foggy weather) of his sweet Honda Pilot roof rack for carrying skis and a bike. The Yakima RailGrab roof rack is mounted to the Honda Pilot factory side rails and the Yakima SkyBox LoPro ski box and Yakima SprocketRocket bike rack are attached to the RailGrab cross bars. Pictured along with Mr. Reeder is Shawn, ORS Racks Direct Operations Manager, obviously involved in high-level rack science discussions.

This car roof top bicycle carrier stands apart from other fork mount style carriers offered by Thule Racks because the Thule 513 Domestique is equipped to clamp directly to factory roof rack crossbars, no adapters required. It also works on after-market car rack system cross bars from Thule, Yakima, Inno etc. Also features a racy, aerodynamic look that looks great on all vehicles. Also optionally locks the bicycle inside the carrier and Domestique itself to the car roof rack.
