Following on the heels of the wildly-popular Rocky Mounts Pitchfork bike rack is the uber-cool RockyMounts Euro PitchFork bike rack. While the standard PitchFork model fits any roof rack square and round cross bars from Thule Racks, Inno Racks, Yakima Racks etc., it falls short when it comes to working with any oval, aerodynamic style cross bars with t-slot channels such as votex roof rack cross bars, which are available as OEM roof racks on Audi, BMW, Porsche, Mini Cooper, Volkswagen, Volvo etc., Whispbar roof rack crossbars, Thule Rapid Aero load bars, Thule Xsporter truck rack and more. The Rocky Mounts Euro Pitch Fork bicycle carrier has all the same premium features included on the normal RockyMount PitchFork, as well as the specific installation hardware for the slotted channel cross bars. And as with all other RockyMount bike rack products, this carrier delivers all the same high-end features, design styling and ease of use found on Yakima and Thule roof bike racks yet is available at a cheaper price. 2002 Saab 9-5 Roof Rack Bike Racks System

Customer install photo of a 2002 Saab 9-5 roof rack system for bikes using the Thule 480 Rapid Traverse base rack system with 1048 Fit Kit and the Thule 872XT Air-Foil Wind Fairing. Two Thule 516 Prologue bike racks are attached to the Rapid Aero bars using two Thule Xadapt 9 kits.

Here is a nice photo of a 2002 Saab 9-5 bike rack system using the Thule 480 Rapid Traverse base rack system with Fit Kit 1048.  Two Thule 516 Prologue bike racks are attached to the Thule Rapid Aero bars using two Thule X-Adapt 9 kits.  A Thule 872XT wind fairing and a Thule 596 lock pack of six lock cores with keys finishes off the system.

Q & A: Installing Thule 480 Traverse on Saab 9-2x

Q: I’m trying to install the Thule 480 Traverse car rack system on my Saab 9-2x but having issues. Specifically, the Thule 1210 Fit Kit clip is not long enough to reach from the Thule 480 Traverse Foot to the correct position on the Saab 9-2x door well. Any help?

A: Check out the photo below that troubleshoots this issue…

Image A depicts grey screw on the Thule 480 Traverse Foot in the fully tightened position and clip positioned at highest point (the Fit Kit attaches to the clip). If you find that the Fit Kit does not reach down far enough to be positioned correctly on your doorwell, simply fully loosen the grey screw and the clip will lower to its lowest position as depicted in image B. You can then attach the Fit Kit to the clip in this lowest position, allowing the Fit Kit to be properly positioned on the doorwell.

A very nice car with a very nice rack system.  Here’s a Saab 9-3 with factory roof rails using the very nice Thule 450 Crossroad car rack base system which fits most raised side rails.  For safe and secure bike transport, this Saab 9-3 has chosen the very nice Thule 516 Prologue bike rack for carrying what I can only assume is a very nice bicycle.
