Q: I just got a rockymount board rack for my car but i need the roof bars for my 2 door car. i drive a 99 ford escort zx2 and cant find roof bars for a 2 door car just 4 door any way you can help me out?
A: The only base rack fit for that car I can find is the Inno IN-SU with the K526 fit hooks and B117 bars. Because your car is a 2-door, you also need the short roof adapter, which helps compensate for the limited bar spread on most 2-door sedans.

Q: Is there a mount that allows you to attach a 2011 Yakima Buttondown ski/snow board holder to a track one rail? I’ve seen several that attach to Thule, wanted to make sure there’s one that fits the Trac one rail and if there is which model it would be.
A: Yes, you could utilize the Yakima Universal Mighty Mounts to mount the Yakima ButtonDown to your TracONE rails.

Check out this cool video that shows how to mount Thule ski racks (including 92726 Universal Pull Top, 92725 Universal Flat Top, 92724 Universal Flat Top, order model 91725, 91724, 91726 etc.) flush to the Thule AeroBlade load bars, all Whispbar roof rack cross bars, all TracRac truck racks, all Votex brand OEM car racks, Thule 422XT Xsporter truck rack cross bars and so forth (these cross bars all share the same feature, a T-slot channel running the entire length of each bar). Using the Thule Ski Rack Flush Mount Adapter Kit the conversion procedure is a quick process that simply removes the Thule SpeedLink Clamp Mounts using a wrench on the 92726, 92725 and 92724 ski-snowboard rack models. Then insert the included T-bolts into the two holes on the underside of each cradle arm and loosely tighten an included wing knob to the end of the T-bolt. Then just slide each cradle arm onto the T-slot channel of each cross bar and then tighten down fully. That’s it! For the older model ski carriers such as the 91726, 91725, 91724, instead of using a wrench you use a drill to simply drill out the rivets that are holding the upper clamp arms onto the underside of each ski carrier cradle arm. Then you follow the same process of inserting the T-bolts into the holes you drilled to remove the rivets. The result of a flush mount ski rack is a much more lower profile, premium looking set up.

Here is a nice follow-up instructional video to watch after viewing the Thule 92724 Flat Top / Thule 92725 Flat Top video. This movie features the Thule 92726 Universal Pull Top ski rack-snowboard rack. It is very similar to the Thule 92725, as it also includes the cool new SpeedLink Universal Mounting Clamps, holds up to 6 pr skis or 4 snowboards (and you can carry skis and snowboards at the same time), and includes locks to simultaneously lock the carrier to the car and equipment inside the carrier. Where the 92726 Universal Pull Top ski rack differs is the innovative telescoping cradle arms that will slide out over the side of the car. This makes it super easy to load and unload the snow boards and skiis. Then the arms retract back into the stored position on the rooftop. The video provides a great demonstration of how this works. Fits factory racks, Thule AeroBlade, square and round crossbars, Whispbar, Yakima, Inno etc. After watching both videos you will have a good foundation for making a decision on what ski rack is best for your needs.

The 92724 replaces the older model 91724 and the 92725 replaces the older model 91725. The biggest improvement is the totally advanced Thule SpeedLink Universal Clamp Mounts integrated onto the underside of the ski carriers. Using a wrap-around strap and tension dial, it is effortless to attach the 92725 and 92724 to any roof rack crossbars, including factory rack cross bars, all Thule load bars (including AeroBlade bars, square bars etc.), all Whispbar and Yakima bars, Inno cross bars and so forth. Q: I have had trouble finding cross bars for my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee due to the fact that the side rails require a crossbar that will lock down into it. Also, if you have a recommendation on a ski/snowboard rack that would fit the crossbars that would be great.
A: For your 2011 Grand Cherokee, check out the Thule 460 Podium Complete System (using Fit Kit 4019 and at least 58” load bars). This will use the specific Grand Cherokee fit kit to attach directly into your factory side rails.
As for a ski rack, the Thule 91726 is one great option. Or, we have a Inno INA 945 ski rack as another good choice at a great price!

Q: I’m a bit confused as to what to buy for my 2011 VW GTI 2 Door. In the summer, I need to hold two bikes. In the winter, I need it to hold a snowboard/ski’s (not sure if this is a separate part). I also would like a wind fairing deflector. Are there other parts necessary to prevent paint scratching and door leaks?
A: Unfortunately your particular vehicle (2011 VW GTI 2 door) is prone to leakage when using some top of car racks. Due to this, we highly recommend you use the Yakima Q Tower System with two Copperhead bike carriers on the new GTI, as the thinner Yakima Q clips have less deformation to your rubber door gasket than other vendors systems. In the winter, just add a Yakima ski carrier (see Big Powderhound) and you have a system for all your needs. As for a Fairing you will need the 44” size.

This 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee cargo basket and ski/snowbard rack system features the Yakima MegaWarrior cargo basket attached directly to the Jeep factory crossbars. Mounted on top of the MegaWarrior basket is the Yakima Big Powderhound ski and snowboard rack, which doubles as a fine fishing rod rack. Q: I have a 2011 VW GTI 3 door and I want a rack system that can handle both snowboards and up to 4 surfboards (or more?). I’m new to this and it seems your website ‘fit guide’ system focuses on 1 or the other or kayaks, etc. But again… I need a rack system for both snow and surf boards. Can you recommend the system for me? Reliability and ease of use are important.
A: For a base rack system, we would suggest the Thule 480 Traverse Complete System. Onto this system you could attach a Thule ski carrier like the 91725 or 91726 (same as the 91725, but also telescopes out from the side of the car for easier loading).
You can transport up to three surfboards with Thule’s new 809 Double-Decker Surf Rack, and you’ll want to get an extra set of Load Straps if you’re carrying more than two boards with this rack. The Double-Decker is 26” wide, so if you wanted to carry more than three boards (and none were wider than 26”) you could fit two of these racks side-by-side if you used load bars that were at least 58” wide.

Here’s a great option to transport skis and snowboards without needing to invest in a complete rack system. This 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid Sedan ski rack is using the Inno MV276 Magnetic ski-snowboard rack to transport a pair of skis. The Inno MV276 can carry up to 2 pairs of skis or one snowboard and it requires no drilling or complicated mounting. All you do is stick in onto smooth flat metal and you’re good to go.
