Thule 480 Traverse roof rack system review by 'Andrea". She is using it as a 2003 Chevy Silverado pickup truck rack.
Overall Rating: 5 Stars (out of 5)
“I ordered the Thule 480 Traverse roof rack system for my husbands 2003 Chevy Silverado pickup truck and he was able to install the system and found it fairly easy to do. I also ordered the fairing because I think it makes the overall system look better and sportier. I am overall happy with my purchase, although I cannot compare it to the Yakima Racks system because I have never owned one but many canoeing enthusists tell me the Thule system is better than Yakima. The only suggestion I would make is that on the fairing they suggested that his truck would need the size Large and to me the fairing doesn’t look quite wide enough for his truck. After measuring it and looking at the meausurements for the xlarge I think the xlarge would have been the better choice because I think the fairings should go across the whole vehicle.”

- An admittedly poor quality photo of Mr. LeRose standing next to his good lookin’ Toyota Tacoma truck rack setup that includes the Yakima Frontloader bike rack and Yakima Mako Saddles – HullyRoller kayak rack combination.
ORS Racks Direct enjoyed a great day hanging out with Mr. LeRose, Yakima Racks Eastern Regional Sales Director, going over the new 2010 Yakima Racks product lineup. Looking great indeed, with new products such as the Yakima Frontloader bike rack, Yakima EvenKeel kayak carrier, Yakima SpareTime spare tire mount bike rack and more! Of course we just had to snap a quick pic of his Toyota Tacoma truck rack setup (apologies for the terrible picture quality, combination of blackberry camera and a foggy day!) He is using the Yakima Control Tower roof rack system mounted to permanently installed Yakima Tracks on his Toyota Tacoma cab roof. Connected to the roof rack crossbars is the Yakima Frontloader bike rack and the Yakima Mako Saddles - HullyRoller kayak rack combination. See you soon Dan and thanks for lunch!

Dodge Ram roof rack system with cap rack system using Thule 400xt base rack for the cab and Thule 300 Raingutter system for the cap.
Here’s a set up demonstrating the use of two different rack systems working in harmony to deliver some serious cargo carrying capacity. On the cab of this Dodge Ram is the Thule 400xt base rack system for naked roofs. On the cap is the Thule 300 Raingutter system for use with raingutters. Add ’em up and you get a total of 8 feet, four loadbars, and one heck of a rack system.

Nissan Titan bed rail bike rack system using Thule 42" tracks and Thule 430 Tracker II base system with Thule 517 Peloton bike rack
Here’s a great alternative rack system for truck owners. Instead of a rooftop system, like the Thule 400XT complete base system, or a truck rack, like the Thule 422XT Xsporter, this Nissan Titan is rocking a pair of Thule 42″ tracks permanently mounted to the bed rails which allows the use of the Thule 430 Tracker II base system. The great thing about this set up is that the feet and bars can be taken off when not needed with the push of a button. You can also see a Thule 517 Peloton bike rack attached to the crossbars with plenty of bar space left for a Thule cargo box or other attachment. The other nice thing about this set up is how it doesn’t interfere with the Tonneau cover. If you’re thinking of mounting racks to your Tonneau cover, consider this solution first.

This photo features the Inno racks INA450 kayak stacker being used as a 2008 Toyota Tacoma kayak roof rack. The INA 450 mounts directly to the factory rack crossbars on the Toyota Tacoma double cab roof top.
This picture features a customer installation of a 2008 Toyota Tacoma double cab truck roofrack for carrying 2 kayaks. The Inno INA450 kayak stacker rack is mounted directly to the Toyota Tacoma factory rack cross bars. A solid and economical solution for transporting multiple kayaks. Loading and tying down the kayaks is a cinch with the included Inno INA451 Cradle Stops that hold each kayak in place so you have both hands to secure each kayak. Try that with any other kayak stacker!

Nissan Frontier Truck Rack with TracRac Truck Rack System
This Nissan Frontier has the slick TracRac sliding pickup truck rack system in “outta the way” mode. This is the beauty of the TracRac sytem–when you don’t need the services of the crossbars, you can slide them together to maximize the carrying capacity of your truck bed. This also keeps the noise down.
