Thule 690XT MOAB roof basket
This a good video from ORS Racks Direct to follow along to and learn all there is to know of the Thule 690XT MOAB basket, a general-purpose roof rack basket for carrying any cargo gear, luggage, camping equipment, beach supplies and more. Mounts to any factory racks as well as aftermarket roof racks from Thule, Yakima and Inno using the included set of four universal mounting clamps (lockable using a 4 pack of Thule locks). Includes a front basket fairing for styling, enhanced aerodynamics and protection of basket contents. Great accessories available such as the 692 Cargo Net that stows and secures everything in place during transport. Thule 691XT MOAB basket extension lengthens the basket another 20 inches for even more cargo carrying space. A very innovative feature is the pair of basket load bars that come included. You can attach any gear carriers to these load bars, allowing to transport bikes, kayaks, canoe, surfboards, standup paddleboards and more directly on the 690XT MOAB basket.

A car roof rack mount gear basket is a superb option that offers versatile solutions for carrying many items besides camping equipment and cargo-luggage gear. The picture above shows a 2003 Toyota 4Runner roof basket with two bike racks attached to the gear basket. The Yakima MegaWarrior roof basket is mounted directly to the 2003 Toyota 4Runner factory rack cross bars. The neat thing about the MegaWarrior is that the basket, itself, has a pair of integrated cross bars also. This allows for the attachment of all kinds of gear carriers right to the basket. In this case 2 RockyMounts PitchFork bike racks are mounted to the MegaWarrior basket crossbars. You can still place all your cargo-luggage gear, camping equipment in the basket while the bike carriers and bicycles are installed and loaded on.

Headed out to Burning Man, this picture shows off a sweet 1985 VW GTI roof rack cargo basket system that includes the Thule 305 Volkswagon car rack and A21030 SportRack basket.
A fantastic choice of components for the ultimate road trip to Burning Man, this 1985 VW GTI car rack basket configuration includes the Thule 305 Volkswagon roof rack (includes a four pack of Thule locks to lock the roof rack to the VW GTI roof top) and the A21030 SportRack roof basket attached to the Thule 305 cross rails. FYI, the 1985 VW GTI has a 3A 2.0L bubble block motor out of an Audi 80. The previous owner ralley crossed this baby!

Subaru Tribeca with Yakima Load Warrior Cargo Basket attached directly to Subaru Tribeca Factory Roof Racks and Yakima Steelhead Bike Racks and Yakima Wheel Forks
Wow! Thanks to Paul in Burlington, VT for showing off his sweet Yakima set up on his sweet Subaru Tribeca, which perfectly shows how nicely Yakima attachments can be mounted to the Yakima Loadwarrior Cargo Basket. Paul is no doubt a biker, and has himself three Yakima Steelhead bike racks paired with three Yakima Wheel Forks. His LoadWarrior, as you can see, is mounted directly to his Subaru factory crossbars. Perhaps he uses that to carry loads of camping gear when he’s not going biking.
