Nissan Versa

Image of a rear mount bike rack on a 2009 Nissan Versa SL, featuring the Thule 9001 Raceway 2.

This Nissan Versa hatchback two bike carrier, featuring the Thule 9001 Raceway 2, is perfect for any bike and any trip!

It’s hard to say which looks more fun to ride: this bright yellow cruiser bike, or the shiny, zippy automobile it’s strapped onto. Luckily this customer gets to operate both, and more conveniently than ever, thanks to their new 2009 Nissan Versa Thule Raceway trunk rack. They installed a Thule 9001 Raceway 2 trunk bike rack onto the hatchback of their Nissan Versa for a clean, reliable fit that is also compatible with tons of other vehicles should they switch cars in the future. The Raceway cable attachments with ratchet-tightening ensure a precise fit on the vehicle, and the straps and cradles keep bikes from bouncing against each other or the rear bumper, even on rough roads. The Raceway also includes added security: a cable lock to lock the bikes to the rack, and a Thule lock core and keys to lock the rack to the vehicle.

Thule Aero Rapid 400XTR for 2011 Nissan Versa Hatchback

by Rack Magic Woman on February 7, 2012

Q:   I am looking for the Thule Aero Rapid 400XTR to fit my 2011 Nissan Versa Hatch back. I’m not exactly sure what parts to get or is there a kit? I would like to know what are the different options. I am looking to mainly carry 2 bikes on the roof for now, but possibly a kayak or snow board in the future or maybe even some kind of cargo container.  Is there attachment for the items i mentioned? Also i am interested in the air deflector or an air dam if that’s what it’s called. I appreciate any answers you could provide for me.

A: Thule is phasing out the 400XT system and they no longer have, or even list, the fit kit required for your 2011 Nissan Versa hatchback.

However, we recommend going with their newer 480 Traverse (includes 480 Traverse foot pack, 1376 fit kit and LB50 traditional square load bars) or 480R Rapid Traverse (includes 480R Rapid Traverse foot pack, 1376 fit kit and their new ARB53 AeroBlade load bars) Roof Rack Systems which replace the 400XT system. Since these are current systems they will have a longer lifespan and give you more options for switching between future vehicles.

The new AeroBlade bars are more aerodynamic and quieter than the square bars and do not need the fairing that you also asked about.

There are several options for carrying bikes, skis & snowboards, kayaks, etc once you have a base rack.

2009 Nissan Versa Roof Rack Luggage Carrier

2009 Nissan Versa luggage roof rack Inno IN-SU roof rack (with IN-SU Stays, Inno B127 Cross Bars, and Inno K313 Fit Hooks) and the Inno BRA120 Flextop 18 Roof Bag

Nice shot of a 2009 Nissan Versa luggage rack set up using the Inno IN-SU Roof Crossbar System (Inno IN-SU Stays, Inno B127 Cross Bars, and Inno K313 Fit Hooks, locks/keys included) and the Inno BRA120 Flextop 18 Roof Bag.

This is a great example of the multi-use versatilty of a base rack system.  Here we have a shiny 2009 Nissan Versa roof rack luggage carrier system using the Inno IN-SU Roof Rack System (Inno IN-SU Stays, Inno K313 Fit Hooks, and B127 50″ Cross Bars, and included locks/keys)  for its multi purpose base rack system.  The Inno INA262 Medium Wind Fairing can be seen attached to the front crossbar not currently doing what it is designed to do, which is quiet wind noise at higher speeds.  On top of the cross bars is the Inno BRA 120 Flex Top 18 cargo carrier roof bag, or luggage carrier, or whatver you may call “a highly weather resistant roof mounted cargo carrier that has an interior frame with a soft bag stretched around it that mounts to existing crossbars and carries a alot of gear and whose frame can be folded down flat when not in use.” The Inno BRA120 roof bag combines a hard-shell roof box and a soft-sided roof bag into one superior product. Delivers the versatility of multi-purpose gear transport, even skis and snowboards in winter, not to mention camping equipement and all the luggage you need for a family vacation. Folds flat when not in use for dramatic fuel efficiency.

An excellent photo featuring a 2009 Nissan Versa car rack customer installation. The Thule 400XT Aero roof rack system serves as the multi-purpose base rack system that the customer can then connect whatever gear carriers he cares to use for transporting his gear around. The Thule 2183 Fit Kit clips are the Thule Fit Kits required for the 2009 Nissan Versa.

2009 Nissan Versa Roof Rack for Hauling a Canoe

by rackdawg on September 22, 2009

2009 Nissan Versa Roof Rack for Hauling a Canoe

Q: I’m trying to figure out what components are needed for a 2009 Nissan Versa car rack for carrying a canoe. The 09 Nissa Versa doesn’t have any kind of rack on the car top right now, no side rails or anything. Do I need a roof rack on the cartop that I can then carry the canoe on? I want something very solid and sturdy that will prevent the canoe from shifting sideways or anything. I’ve used cheap canoe foam blocks and stuff and that is a total nightmare.

A: Yes, no matter what gear you plan to carry on your roof, you will need a multi-purpose roof rack base system. The Thule 400XT Aero roof rack base system is an excellent choice for your 2009 Nissan Versa.  The Thule 400XT Aero system includes four Thule 400XT Aero Feet, a set of four Thule 2183 Fit Kit Clips (the 2183 Fit Kit Clips are specific to your 09 Nissan Versa) and two load bars. You will attach the canoe carrier directly to the 400XT Aero front and rear cross bars. The 50 inch crossbars are the recommended length for your Nissan Versa rooftop.

You can then attach the Thule 579XT canoe rack directly to the Thule 400XT Aero base rack cross bars. Includes a pair of heavy-duty securing straps. Also includes a pair of Thule 885 Quick-Draw tie-down straps to fully secure the front and rear of the canoe for very safe and worry free canoe transport.
