2 door vehicles with naked roofs, like this 2000 Honda Civic, often require the use of a stretch kit to increase the cross bar spread to at least a minimum of 24″ which is just enough to safely carry most gear (canoes excluded). This 2000 Honda Civic 2-door bike rack system is using the Yakima Q-Tower roof rack system (includes Yakima Q-Towers, Yakima Q69 Q clips and Yakima Q70 Q Clips, and Yakima 48″ Cross Bars) with the Yakima Q-Stretch kit and can easily transport two bicycles. One bike carrier is the Yakima HighRoller bike rack, which doesn’t require the removal of the front wheel. The other bike tray is the Yakima SteelHead bike rack, a fork mounted bike tray, which does require the removal of the front wheel. To keep things nice and quiet up there, we have the Yakima 44″ Large Fairing-Wind Deflector. A Yakima SKS 6 pack of locks keeps everything nice and secure from theft.

The picture above demonstrates how easy it is to install a Fleetwood camper trailer roof rack system. The 2008 Fleetwood popup camper bike roof rack setup is using the Yakima Control Towers system mounted to the Fleetwood camper roof tracks (if your popup camper does not already have tracks installed, simply mount the Yakima Tracks to the roof top and you can then connect the Yakima Control Tower roof rack system to the Yakima Tracks). The Control Tower system includes a set of four Yakima LP1 landing Pads, that attach the roof tracks, and also a pair of extra long Yakima 86 inch cross bars, which are the required length for the Fleetwood camper roof top (and all makes and models of popup camper trailers). Four Yakima HighRoller bike racks are then connected to the pair of 86 inch crossbars for transporting bikes for the entire family.

Q: My 2005 Suzuki Reno has a base rack system on it form Yakima Racks. What bike racks can I use for carrying a couple bicycles with disc brakes?

A: Because you are already using the Yakima Q Towers car rack system as a 2005 Suzuki Reno roof rack, you can attach any roof mount Yakima bike racks to the crossbars. Your best options for upright mount bike racks are the Yakima HighRoller and Yakima King Cobra. For fork mount bike rack options your best bets are the Yakima ForkLift and Yakima SprocketRocket. All are compatible with bike disc brakes.
