Wowza! If you’ve ever wondered just how much gear can be transported on a single vehicle, this picture could be your answer. I count five bikes, a SUP, and a cargo box which I’m guessing is packed full of gear, supplies, and a kitchen sink. Clearly, without car racks, carrying all this gear would only be possible with a truck or van, but thanks to a Yakima roof rack system with a Yakima cargo box and a Yakima fork mount bike rack, as well as a Yakima hitch bike rack, all this gear can be safely carried on a 2015 Subaru Outback wagon.
Let’s take a closer look at all the Yakima racks that make this possible, starting with the Yakima SkyLine base rack, which attaches into the Subaru raised side rails using Landing Pads 15 and Yakima RoundBars. The 48″ RoundBars are the suggested size, but to maximize rooftop cargo capacity, this system is decked out with 66″ bars, which are two sizes larger. Attached to the RoundBars is the Yakima SkyBox 16 rooftop cargo box which provides 16 cubic feet of lockable, waterproof storage capacity. Next to the Yakima roof box, the Yakima SUPPup SUP carrier is supporting a single SUP (but it has the ability to carry up to two SUPs). And with just enough bar length left, the Yakima ForkLift bike rack is attached to carry a bike.
Finally, four bikes are being carried on the Yakima Ridgeback 4 hitch bike rack attached to the 1 1/4″ receiver hitch. With all that is going on with this set up it is definitely a contender for Rack Star of the Year!
